Charlene Cooper

Charlene is a proud Ngadju, Mirning, Wongutha, Gubrun and Esperance Nyungar woman, and the Owner and Director of KBS Ngurra Pty Ltd.

She has spent more than 15 years working on Whadjuk Country – Perth, Western Australia where her leadership is deeply grounded in culture, kinship, and the teachings passed down from her Elders. The Goldfields-Esperance Region, has shaped the way she builds partnerships, makes decisions, and creates opportunities that honour country, community, industry and the enduring spirit of her people.

Charlene is passionate about empowering women in business, advancing First Nations participation, and fostering sustainable industry growth and partnerships. She believes leadership is more than business performance, it is about showing how cultural knowledge, values, and Indigenous excellence can create meaningful impact for industry, community, and future generations.

Neil Purcell

Neil Purcell is a proud Wajarri & Nanda man and the First Nations Business Development Director at KBS Ngurra Pty Ltd, an Indigenous-owned Australian business.

He has ~15 years experience in the resources sector (primarily BHP) across multiple commodities, where his work focused on commercial decision-making, investment evaluation, business development & strategy.

Additionally, Neil has experience supporting Traditional Owner enterprise development and partnership pathways. He is passionate about improving economic outcomes for Indigenous communities and believes strong partnerships are built on respect, clarity, and shared benefit—creating opportunities that honour community while delivering real outcomes for industry.

Based in China and regularly in Australia, Neil is responsible for KBS Ngurra’s supplier engagement and business development across its Australian client base.
